Many people experience a weird, new phenomenon on their iPhones where the screen moves without being touched. This is called “ghost touch.” It’s not clear why this happens, but some people think it’s related to the latest iOS update. But you don’t have to worry! You can do a few things to fix this problem and get back to your phone-browsing without feeling like something spooky is going on.
However, if you want, you can try to fix this yourself. It’s pretty simple and will only take a few minutes of your time!
Fixes For the Ghost Touch Problem
1. Restart
The first way to fix ghost touch is by restarting your phone. To do this, hold down the power button until you see “slide to power off.” Then slide it and wait for a few seconds before powering on your iPhone again. This will solve a lot of minor iPhone glitches without any problems.
To restart an iPhone without a Home button, you should do the following:
1) Press and hold the “Sleep/Wake” button on your iPhone until you see Slide to Power Off.
2) After you see the option to “slide to power off,” press and hold the Home button for three seconds.
3) Wait for your screen to turn black, then let go of the home button.
2 . Clean the Touchscreen
The next thing you can try is to clean the touchscreen. Dust and other particles accumulate over time, which can affect how sensitive your iPhone’s touchscreen is. One way to clean it is with a piece of cloth that has been soaked in a bit of rubbing alcohol. Just be careful not to use too much, or you could damage your screen!
3 . Remove or replace Screen Protector
If all else fails and your iPhone still has ghost touch, it’s time to think about replacing the screen protector. If you’ve had a screen protector on for a while, there could be dust underneath it, affecting how your touchscreen works. Try using some tape or sticky notes to pull the dust out (that’s what I do)
4 . Update to Newest Software Version
Like any new software update, there may be a few “bugs” that come with it. Try updating your phone and see if the ghost touch stops.
5 . Bring It to Apple
If all else fails, you can take your iPhone to Apple service center and have them look at it. Chances are they will give you a new one!
6 . Reset All Settings
Go to Settings- General – Reset All Settings. If you don’t want to erase your phone, no worries, this is just a reset of the settings on your phone. This should solve any other problems that may be happening with your iPhone!
If all else fails and nothing seems to work, then it might be time to take it into Apple for a bit of maintenance. Please don’t panic; they will take care of you and give you a new device!
Phew, now that this is over with, we can all go back to using our iPhones as usual. Have any ghost touch problems? Comment below and share your tips!
